Evaluation of text summarization

Dear participant,

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey and supporting my bachelors thesis.
Automatic text summaries are increasingly used in a variety of applications, from assisting with research to providing concise overviews of long documents. To ensure their effectiveness, it is essential to assess their quality against several important criteria.

In this survey, you are asked to rate summaries on the following five dimensions:

  • Clarity: the language and wording of the summary are easy to understand.
  • Coherence: The relationships between the key points in the summary are well connected and consistent.
  • Coverage: The summary contains all the important points of the original text.
  • Correctness: The facts mentioned in the summary are consistent with the original text.
  • Conciseness: The summary avoids unnecessary details or excessively long explanations.

You will rate the summaries on a 5-point scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree) to indicate the extent to which you agree with the statements on these dimensions.

The survey is anonymous and all data collected will be used for research purposes only. The survey should take approximately 7-10 minutes to complete.

If you have any questions before you start the survey, please write to me at
[email protected].

Thank you again for your time and contribution to my bachelor thesis.

Yours sincerely,
